The English Book Club: Aravind Adiga – The White Tiger

Balram is a multi-faceted character who stood out in school and earned himself a unique nickname. Were it not for his wit, there would be little chance of him evading the grip of poverty due to the inherent nature of Indian society. He encounters the world of corruption and crime.

The protagonist is oftentimes funny but also tragic as he pulls back the veil on traditional societal values, the caste system, religious practices, technological advancements, and the political system.
