Io capitano

Seydou and Moussa, two teenage boys from Senegal, decide to leave their hometown of Dakar in search of a better life in idyllic Europe. For years now, they’ve been secretly working on a construction site and write songs in the hope of becoming stars. They would also like to use the money to help their parents, brothers, and sisters who live in poverty. To reach Europe, they must cross several countries and face bribery, torture, exploitation, and complete dehumanization. Their epic journey, a tale of life and death, takes them all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, where Seydou must take on the role of helmsman and safely guide the refugees to Sicily.
