We Do Not Part

Kyungha receives a call from her friend Inseon, asking her to visit her urgently in hospital. Having had to leave her home due to an injury to her arm, her parrot has been left behind. Kyungha sets off for the remote house on Jeju Island. She finds herself in a snowstorm, gets lost, but finally arrives at the house. She does not realize how her journey will change her. In the whiteness of the snow, reality and delusions, the present and the past become blurred. It is left to the readers to decide which narrative threads to follow. Images of the fates of family members and forgotten memories of the massacre that took place on Jeju Island emerge. In her poetically written novel, the 2024 Nobel Prize winner presents historical facts with a great deal of sensitivity and melancholy. (EZ)
