Climate for reading

GOALS

The objectives of the project are to increase interest in reading among adults and to facilitate the exchange of best practices among libraries for the development of reading literacy. Additionally, the project aims to promote reading through the use of modern technologies, strengthen the skills of librarians and adult educators, and foster the development of creative and engaged citizens through improved reading literacy.

DESCRIPTION
The Ljubljana City Library (MKL) has joined the international project CLIMATE FOR READING, co-financed by the Erasmus+ Program, KA210-ADU – Small-Scale Partnerships in Adult Education. The primary goals of the project are to exchange best practices and enhance the competencies of participants, which will be applied in libraries to promote adult reading and engage adults who read very little or not at all. In addition to the Ljubljana City Library, project partners include institutions from three European countries:

Municipal Public Library in Żory (project coordinator, Poland)
Innlandet County Library (Norway)
City and University Library of Osijek (Croatia)

The project activities include:

Four international meetings in participating countries where libraries will share experiences and design innovative methods to promote reading.
Organization of four workshops to enhance educators’ competencies.
Development of visual and audio materials highlighting the benefits of reading.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Collaboration between librarians and adult educators, leading to improved reading literacy.
Development of new ways to encourage reading with the aid of modern technologies.
Increased role of libraries in society and improved skills of the target groups.
