Czech and Slovak film series: Havel

The film tells the life story of one of the most prominent figures of modern Czech history, the president and playwright Václav Havel. Directed by Slávek Horák, 105 minutes; 2020. Introduction to the film: Leon Kokošar.

The film takes us back to the time when Havel was active in the dissident movement and was not yet a well-known personality. It focuses on Havel’s turbulent life, dominated by the struggle for truth and justice, persecution, imprisonment, but also love, self-doubt and humour. The focus is on his relationship with his wife Olga.
