Borrowing of library material

Library materials may be borrowed for 21 days with a possible extension of the loan period, while daily and weekly newspapers may be borrowed for 7 days, without the possibility of extending the loan period.

When the desired materials are not held by our library you may order them from another Slovenian library through inter-library loan.

Materials not intended for borrowing may be copied in accordance with the regulations.

Registering the borrowed materials

When borrowing materials, you receive a delivery slip with a list of borrowed materials, while through My Cobiss service you may extend the loan period and make reservations for the desired materials.

Extending the loan period

The loan period of borrowed materials may be extended several times. Materials that are being borrowed for 21 days may be kept for maximum of 42 days, after the loan period has been extended. Materials that are being borrowed for 7 days (DVDs etc.), may be kept for maximum of 14 days, after the loan period has been extended.

How to extend the loan period

  • personally, with your Urbana card in the library
  • electronically in Cobiss (see instructions)
  • by calling the library and confirming your membership card number

Returning materials

It is possible to return the borrowed materials in any of our branch libraries. Returning materials in another branch library than the one it was borrowed from is possible by presenting your Urbana card and settling the charge according to the price-list.

Toys and e-readers may only be returned in the branch library they were borrowed from. The same applies for the damaged materials and materials from the Mobile library.

One can find more information on borrowing in the Act on operation of the Ljubljana City Library.
