The Cycle of Czech and Slovak film: Meciar

The film is a confession of the young Slovak director Tereza Nvotova about the politician Vladimir Meciar and the influence he had in the 90s on the Slovak society and also on Tereza’s personal life. Directed by: Tereza Nvotová, 2017; 89 minutes. Initial presentation of the film: Matevž Treven.

Vladimir Meciar appeared on the political scene after the Velvet revolution and the fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. As an unknown lawyer he took the position of the Minister of Interior and ruled from the top with questionable methods.

The cycle of Czech and Slovak film has been prepared in cooperation with the Department of Slavistics of the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ljubljana. The Slovene subtitles were done by students of the Department of Slavistics of the Faculty of Arts.
