Shift

A bored Congressman Donald gets a tempting offer to build a huge silo according to Senator Thurman’s plans. The silo is to be built underground and serve as a shelter in case of a disaster. But what Donald does not know is that the government is working on a much bigger project. At the same time we are following two other stories. Seventeen-year-old Mission lives with others in Silo number 18 because the air has become unfit for life. Soon a revolt begins because of the intolerable social control. In Silo number 17, however, there are hardly any poeple left because of the fighting. Lonely Jimmy tries to make sense of his life. The novel Shift is the second part of the Wool trilogy. The third part is entitled Dust. (EZ)
