ECS – Libraries and citizen science

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the project are to develop learning modules to improve the competences of librarians in the field of citizen science and to promote the introduction of activities related to citizen science in public libraries.

Public library staff, young people, elderly people, members of vulnerable groups

DESCRIPTION

The Ljubljana City Library is a partner in the ECS – libraries and citizen science project in the Horizon Europe programme. The project is coordinated by Public Libraries 2030 and aims to develop learning modules on the introduction of citizen science activities in public libraries, thus linking public libraries and citizen science.

In addition to the Ljubljana City Library, the project also involves :

  • Aarhus Bibliotekerne, Denmark
  • Veria General Library, Greece
  • General Libraries of Lisbon, Portugal
  • Biblioteca Astra Sibiu, Romania
  • Viks Bibliotek, Finland
  • Valmieras Integreta Bibliotek, Latvia
  • Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna w Kudowie Zdroju, Poland
  • Wiener-Neustadt bibliothek, Austria

THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE FORESEEN WITHIN THE PROJECT:

Participation in focus groups to identify the needs of general libraries, testing of learning modules and preparation of citizen science activities in the library. The activities will focus on vulnerable target groups (young, elderly, foreigners) in order to encourage their participation in citizen science projects.
